The skin is made up of layers. The (usually) thin outer layer is called the epidermis. Beneath the epidermis lies the dermis which is up to 20 times thicker than the epidermis. It is into the dermis, at varying levels, that dermal fillers are injected. They may also be injected at a much deeper level (even down to bone) during a Soft Tissue Face Lift. Dermal fillers are used to plump out or soften facial lines and wrinkles. They may also be used to replace lost volume, define facial contours and to create fuller lips. Dermal fillers are now at the forefront of anti-ageing procedures and in many cases have taken over from surgery in improving facial definition. We do not use permanent fillers as these can cause long term problems. Our fillers however do stimulate the skin to produce its own collagen giving the appearance of “growing younger”.
Wandsworth Dental Practice uses a variety of different fillers for different applications. We use hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural filler in the body. It has been used in other branches of medicine for quite some time. Examples of hyaluronic acid fillers include the Restylane products by the Swedish company Qmed or the Teosyal products from the Swiss company Teoxane. We also use Radiesse, a filler made from calcium hydroxyapatite by Merz Pharmaceuticals.

At WTDP clinic we offer a non-surgical nose-job (rhinoplasty) using dermal filler. This treatment can be used to smooth and shape the appearance of the nose. We have had excellent results in the past dealing with dealing with mild to moderate imperfections of the appearance of the nose.

Filler Reversal – Hyaluronidase Treatment
Sadly, we have many clients who have come to us with unsatisfactory results from other clinics. We are able to offer a procedure that allows for hyaluronic acid-based fillers to be dissolved. Any area of the body can be treated, full reversal is usually achieved within 48hrs of hyaluronidase treatment. This procedure is both safe and effective. The Hyaluronidase enzyme will break down the filler which will then be slowly and naturally cleared from the body.
